I've been too busy for serious posting, but my wheel is still in it's box. I'm looking for advice. The wheel is unfinished. How should I finish it?

That depends on how much protection you think it will need. While you're sanding for days, read this.

There is a lot of misleading labeling going on. I would probably go with a wiping varnish or oil/varnish blend. Linseed oil is romantically old-fashioned, especially for spinners (it's flax!) but a lot of work for not much protection, not to mention the spontaneously combusting rag factor.
