In my case, I think it's because I took a longer break from knitting than I did crochet, and knitting still seems "new." It's about time that I picked up my hook again. Here are some free patterns that are inspiring me.

Hey, I'm so glad you like The Wavelength! Go ahead and us a picture if you like...and make sure to let me know how it comes out. It's been fascinating to see it work up in different yarns. I hope to have a more polished version with some options up on Rav this fall.
